New Events During the 2025 Blueberry Festival!

This year’s festival design was created by Forest Heights resident, Jay Domingo, who also teaches graphic design at Clarke Central. T-shirts and tank tops featuring the design will be available for pre-order soon!

The 2025 Forest Heights Blueberry Festival will be held on Saturday, May 31, and this year we’re going to introduce some new events!

We’d like to do a 5K run/walk on the morning of the festival, coinciding with the Bike Athens Blueberry Rally. We need a few volunteers to help pull this together. If you can help, please reach out to Philip Bishop.

Also, instead of garden tours, this year we’re looking for people who are interested in giving short demonstrations. For instance, the basics of raising chickens, bee keeping, landscape design, invasive plant removal, wood turning, herbal tinctures, etc. If you have a skill, hobby or job you’d like to share/promote for 30-45 minutes, please reach out to Bart King.

Silent Auction Items Needed

Again this year, we will hold a silent auction during the Blueberry Jam Concert on the evening of the festival. One of the auction items will be a membership to the Forest Heights Hampton Park Pool! But we need other new or lightly used quality items to auction. Items from past years have included exercise bikes, custom-made cutting boards, gift certificates, binoculars, and a toddler bike seat. If you have items you can donate, please contact Danielle Gilmer.

As a reminder, all funds raised by the Forest Heights Blueberry Festival go to support the Community Blueberry Project and the production of next year’s festival.

Other Upcoming Events

FYI, two events are happening in Forest Heights this weekend and next.

This Sunday, April 6 and the following Saturday, April 12, Kerem Kilic is having a Spring Plant Sale at Forest Gardens Farm at 515 Forest Heights Drive from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Kerem has given tours of his permaculture farm and nursery during the Blueberry Festival the last few years, and all of the plants on sale are ones that he’s cultivated and grown right here in the neighborhood!

The Neighborhood Yard Sale organized by Danielle Gilmer will also take place on Saturday, April 12. Here’s a link to a map with the two dozen homes participating.
