Register Now for the 2025 Blueberry Cook-off!
A delicious entry from 2021.
Registration is open for the Blueberry Cook-off competition that will be part of the 5th Forest Heights Blueberry Festival on Saturday, May 31, 2025.
This event has become a much-loved part of the festival with lots of incredible food for everyone to enjoy!
The competition will take place in the late morning (11 a.m.) to take advantage of cooler temperatures and bigger lunch-time appetites! The location is the grassy median of Holly Court, towards the back of the Forest Heights neighborhood, where we will set up tents, tables and chairs.
The competition is open to anyone. There’s no requirement to be a Forest Heights resident. The only rule is that whatever you bake, brew, cook or otherwise prepare must include blueberries as an ingredient. The following awards will be given:
Most Delicious
Most Unusual
Best Presentation
Best Overall
Gina Fisher is leading the event this year with emcees Jeff Griggs and Jay Domingo returning. If you have any questions, reach out to Gina at ggfisher@mac.com.
Some cutlery and paper plates/bowls will be provided, but participants are encouraged to bring whatever special bowls, plates, cups, etc. are needed to serve their creations. Participants are required to bring enough of their creation for three judges and the emcee. Plus, they’re encouraged to bring enough for onlookers to try.
Typically, there’s plenty of amazing food for everyone to enjoy!
As with last year, the number of participants will be limited! Participation is free, but registration is required.
Three New Judges This Year!
This year we have three new judges for the competition:
Ashley Smith is a creative consultant and writer. She blogs about being a “new” girl in Athens and you can connect with her on Instagram @shopthetoast. Ashley has lived on Rivermont since 2019.
Barbara Garcia is a California refugee still figuring out Southern charm and humidity. She says judging is her super power and blueberry is her jam.
MikiLu Peters is most commonly described as “sweet” and “tall,” but if you ask her if she played basketball in high school she will judge you instead of your blueberry dish. Her band Fawney Rig will be performing in The Blueberry Jam concert.
