New Festival Event: Big Berry 5k & Fun Run/Walk
This year we’re holding the first-ever Big Berry 5k and Fun Run/Walk on the morning of the Forest Heights Blueberry Festival (Saturday, May 31) at 9:30 a.m.
All participants must register here and pay a small fee for either the 5k ($10) or the 1-mile fun run/walk ($5). The first 30 registrants will receive custom memorabilia (more on that soon) and the “Big Berry” winners will be named for a few different 5k age groups.
The event will begin at 9:30 a.m., coinciding with the BikeAthens Blueberry Rally. Runners and walkers should gather at the main festival site at Holly Court no later than 9:15 a.m. (Volunteers will need to be there by 8:45.)
Big Berry hoofers will head up Holly Lane away from the river, and the bikers will head down Holly Lane towards the river. 5k participants will circle the course loop (see map below) counter-clockwise three times, and the fun runners/walkers will circle it one time.
The Big Berry Course
Bike riders, many of whom will be under the age of 12, will be visiting rally points in different locations along the route. All runners, walkers and bikers will need to use care to avoid any collisions.
The event will conclude with a brief awards ceremony at Holly Court at 10:15.
